Happy Birthday Ayush

22 03 2010

Saturday was a real red-letter day for Ayush Harpalani, his 4th Birthday party! His parents Kashish and Sanjay, of Riu Parfum in Tenerife, really pushed the boat out with a party for 40 or so of his friends at The Island Village Resort in Las Americas.

Bouncy castle, face painting, henna tattoos and, of course, Walk On Water!

The Ball challenge was scheduled to start at 3.30, however this had to be brought forward as the kids refused to wait! Although Ayush didn’t venture into a ball, most of his friends did, with varying degrees of success. We had 3 hamsters in all and some valiant efforts. A special mention had to go to Dad Sanjay who was, it has to be said, rubbish, but hilarious to watch!

We even had one lad who had taken on the ball challenge at Siam Park, and was just as good at the party as he had been at the obstacle course.

Much to the disappointment of many, we finished after an hour and retired to the bar for Birthday cake, baked to perfection by Kashish who bakes personalised cakes for her company, Sweet Tooth.

Many thanks to Kashish and Sanjay for booking Walk On Water, and a very Happy Birthday to Ayush.

Meeting Friends – Old and New

18 03 2010

Whilst everything is fairly quiet on Tenerife at the moment, the hotels still have quite a few families with children who want to be entertained.

The Walk On Water Teams have been revisiting several old haunts, challenging guests, both young and old, to take on The Balls.

Laguna Park 1 has had a switch of animators recently and we are now working with Matt, who loves the Balls and spends a lot of his time challenging his guests, especially the Dads, to have a go.

Likewise at Laguna Park 2, busy, as it is in the middle of term time for the U.K. kids, but Danielle and Lisa do a fantastic job of rustling up bored kids and giving parents a much-needed break, if only for only ten minutes or so.

Garden City at Club Olympus is always full of people and the last couple of weeks have been no different, a special mention has to go out to Kyle, aged 6. Whilst his enthusiasm was only matched by his terrible performance, his energy levels were extraordinary. He took the challenge twice and both times had to be physically removed as he didn’t want to come out. definitely a Duracell Bunny this one!

Sunset Bay and Harbour also have a new animator on their team – Neil who used to work at Laguna Park 1. We are delighted to be working with him again and wish him a long and happy future with the Sunset Crew.

We look forward to meeting some new friends and challengers during the Easter Holidays.

Wanna Be Hamsters!

1 03 2010

Thursday was a great day, both weather-wise and for the Walk On Water Team. We started at our old favourites, Garden City, where we were greeted by one young man who had waited for months to be able to try his luck. He had seen the Balls on the website and was desperate to have ago, he finally got his wish! He was pretty good, particularly on his second go.

Several other small hamsters gave it their best shot – sadly none of them were really in the league of real hamsters. Better luck next time.

Second venue of the day was a return visit to Club la Costa’s Sunningdale. Again the resort had treated their lucky guests to hours of fun in the sun, in the balls!

Kezi, who first tried her luck in Monterey had two more goes and proved to be really, really good. So much so that her mum and dad, Kent and Tashala also tried their luck, though they were nowhere near as good as Kezi. Outstanding achievement mentions go to Ben, 10 and his brother Josh, 7. Josh was one of the best kids ever to try the challenge and went in 4 times. He was absolutely fantastic.

Not so brilliant, but great fun to watch were teenagers Rhoni and Vanessa who both went in twice, but failed to live up to Josh’s standard. Thanks also to Sarah, one of the animation team at Sunningdale – she was so hot when she emerged from her ball that she dived straight into the pool, forgetting she had no change of clothing! She had another go in an effort to dry off!!

Cuties of the day had to be Lauren and Saskia, both aged 5, they were absolutely adorable and really tried – to several oohs and aahs from onlookers!

Final mention has to go to Jake, he went in 3 times and was brilliant, he egged his dad to have a go. Typical of the older generation, he let us down and was rubbish!
