Sunshine Again In Tenerife

24 02 2010

At last… the sunshine made a very welcome appearance in Tenerife today – so nice to feel warm again!

The Walk On Water Teams first stop was Sol Tenerife, although it was ridiculously busy, there was  distinct lack of little people, or even big people wanting to try their luck in The Balls. So we did what we had to do and bullied the animation team into having a go!

First up was David, who proved to be enthusiastic, but useless, then Lorena had a go and would have been good, but she couldn’t stop laughing long enough to concentrate. Lastly was Alberto who was the star of the team, he was really good – and really fast! We then had some guests who had a go, but no one topped Alberto!

Next stop was Club La Costa Monterey for our second visit. Lucky guests were again treated to an afternoon of the water balls, courtesy of Club la Costa. Combined with lovely weather and one of the most beautiful resorts we have visited, it was a fabulous afternoon.

Special mentions have to go to Archie, aged 8 on Monday, who went in twice, he was brilliant and ended up as a beach ball between his father and Bobble (??!!). Bobble had a go himself, he was rubbish as was Archie’s dad, Paul,  but nice one boys for having a  go.

We should also mention, Dom, who had a go in spite of some serious sunburn, Animator Katia, who laughed too much to give it a really good go. Congratulations go to Lauren, Becka and Fay – as well as David – who all showed they could Walk On Water!!!

Kezi, who was visiting the resort for the day, interrupted her lunch to have a go and was delighted to hear that the team will be in Sunningdale on Thursday, so she could do it all over again.

There are far too many more to mention, but you know who you are, thanks for giving us such a great afternoon.

Half Term Continued

22 02 2010

The weather here in Tenerife was not kind to our guests over the Half Term holiday, rain, very strong winds to say nothing of lengthy power cuts, all due, we assume to Global Warming!

The Walk On Water Teams did manage to get to some resorts for the last bit of the week though and the highlight of which has to be the Paradise Monteray Club in Las Americas. Lucky guests were treated to a four-hour session of the Walk On Water challenge. It was well and truly welcomed as a distraction from the weather for children and adults alike. Some of the challengers were so taken with the Balls that they tried it out 3 times!!! Special mentions have to go to Ben and Michaela, Miles, Becky and her Mum, Gill, and Amelia. The guests thoroughly enjoyed their treat from their hosts, for those of you still lucky enough to be on holiday, we will be back on Tuesday 23rd of February, so see you there.

Paul Laguna Park 1

We also managed to visit Laguna Park 1 and were treated to Paul, aged 49, egged on by Maria who had tried the Ball previously and set him up! He did extremely well, it has to be said that he was better than Maria! Also a round of applause to Reagan and Demi. Final challengers were siblings James and Beth were on holiday from the North of England and very glad of some sunshine. James was a complete star and ran a round the pool like he had been doing it for years. Beth wasn’t quite so good, but she gave an energetic performance and enjoyed the challenge.

Santa Barbara in Golf del Sur also had some welcome sunshine, although the wind was still a little enthusiastic, First up was Luke who was so desperate to be first in he managed a little ticket swap to make sure he was! He was spectacular at falling over, while his brother, Daniel, who had more time to watch, was much better. Winner at this resort had to be Gabby, she had tried the balls on previous holidays and was a true professional whilst her little sister Bronwen had a great time throwing herself around inside, proving you don’t have to run a round to have a good time.

Half Term In Tenerife

16 02 2010

The extreme weather conditions all over the Canary Islands meant that the Walk On Water Team s had an enforced break! However everything was back on to coincide with the U.K. Schools half-term break.

Tom

First off the mark was the Royal Sunset Beach Club, and we were met by brother and sister Tom and Georgia. They both took a little while to get used to the idea of walking on water, but battled on and got there in the end. They were followed by Aaron and his friend Tom, both from Manchester, who were both brilliant chasing each other around the pool! They inspired both Tom and Georgia to have another go, proving that practise does make perfect, they were fantastic second time around!

Next stop was Laguna Park 1, we were in competition with a fashion show that was taking place around the pool at the same time. Needless to say Walk On Water won hands down! It was the busiest we had been at this complex for a while, with many returnees from Christmas – lovely to meet up with old friends again.

We also visited Laguna Park 2 – again very busy, there seems to be a holiday scam going on here as various people posed for pictures beside the balls but didn’t actually get in! Shame on you!

Sunset Bay and Sunset Harbour were extremely busy and although the weather threatened to turn into rain and the wind was very strong, it didn’t put anybody off. If anything most of the kids relished the additional challenge of wind as well as the ball!
All in all this half term break has proved to be one of the most enjoyable weeks for the teams so far, and it has only just started!
